Our fathers swam down
to the deep ocean of life.
to play with sea anemones
and to sing in the wind ...
they went down so far.
so far, so far, as life goes down ..
but on the deepest bottom
they still found nothing...
- because it was dark.
but down to higher grounds
they played with anemones,
sang their sweetest song in the wind,
to greet all the mermaids and fish ...
up they went from the bottom of life.
up and down again,
for it seems,
when you've got down,
you can never get up ...
but still they came,
one by one.
crawling onto shore.
outsprawled in the white, white sand,
talking riddles and singing entranced
of an endlessness-sea with a white-white shore ...
they brought pearls and corals
up from the sea
and talked about mermaids and fish
-no wonder their wives thought
they're crazy ...
just singing and dancing
on endless white shores
while dreaming of the deep blue sea ..
-oh passion of life,
where have you gone ...
- to the sea. to the sea
I ´ve set asail
just look for me
far on the oceans of life,
I'll see you, I'll see you again ..
so sang they and cared
about nothing else
stopped thinking of anything else in life
but the passion they lost
and now waited for,
their secret dreams of coral life
at the bottom down at the sea
and dreaming they lost their wives again,
by flinging themselves in the sea,
to the bottom of ocean's life again.
and down to mermaids and fish ...
they lost their hearts they lost their souls
and did not find the way then back,
so they stayed down to merfolk play
until they turned to fish ...
they lost their hearts they lost their souls
and did not find the way then back,
so they stayed down to merfolk play
until they turned to fish ...
the wives they wept, the wives they cried,
but then they said: Oh, well.
They're gone and won't return;
it's just the way of life again.
it ' s ocean ' s deepest source.
just never steer it up ...
and thus they left and did not weep for anyone again.
Our fathers had travelled down the oceans,
looking for reason of Life,
they never returned
when they looked again,
you can travel this life just for once.
And that is what women always knew,
so they'll never go down and see.
Our ancestors travelled down their lives,
to the bottoms of deepest seas,
they did not return, they did not return ...
so never steer up the seas if you dare.
Our fathers travelled down the sea,
just down the sea
and down
